Blackened Steak
With a Blue Cheese Wine Sauce
Serves 2
- 2 Kroger steaks (filet, rib eye, sirloin, flat iron, etc.)
- Private Selection® Steakhouse Seasoning Grinder, to taste
- 1 Tablespoon Private Selection® olive oil
- ¼ Cup red wine, such as Merlot, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, etc.
- 3 Tablespoons Private Selection® crumbled blue cheese
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat for 1 minute. Meanwhile, rub all sides of steaks with olive oil and the Steakhouse Grinder seasoning.
- Add a few drops of oil to the pan and swirl to lightly coat. Put steak in skillet and sear for 1 minutes per side. Turn heat to medium-low and cook, turning every 2 minutes, until done to your liking.
- Turn burner back to medium-high, remove pan from heat, and add wine and blue cheese. Wait until the wine has stopped steaming and return pan to the heat. Simmer until sauce thickens, turn to coat the steak with sauce.
- Move steak to a clean plate, cover loosely with foil and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving to insure they will be nice and juicy.
