This Sizzlin' Steak Salad recipe is available on video.

SIZZLIN’ STEAK SALAD

Serves 2
1 Pound of your favorite Kroger steak (filet mignon, strip steak, top sirloin, flank steak, etc.)
1 Teaspoon + 1 Tablespoon Benissimo Roasted Garlic Olive Oil
1/2 Teaspoon (or to taste) dry steak seasoning (like Kroger Blackened Seasoning, Chef Paul’s Meat Magic, etc.)
1 Bag Kroger’s Popeye Spinach
4 NatureSweet Desert Glory Tomatoes, sliced lengthwise into thin wedges (These tomatoes in a red mesh bag with the other tomatoes)
  Makoto Ginger Dressing, to taste
1 Loaf Kroger Artisan Bread (Choose from Asiago, Ciabatta, Cheddar Cheese, Focaccia, Roasted Garlic, or Tuscan Italian)

As with any recipe, you can increase or decrease ingredients or cook time to suit your own tastes.

  • Rub some Roasted Garlic Olive oil lightly all over the steaks and then season the steaks.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat for 1 minute, add 1 tablespoon olive oil, swirl to coat, and sear the steaks for 1 minute per side.  Turn the heat to medium-low and continue to cook, turning every minute, until done to your liking.  Remove the steaks to a plate, cover to keep warm, and let them rest for 5 minutes.
  • Heat the bread according to package directions and slice.  Place 1/4 cup Benissimo Roasted Garlic Olive Oil in a saucer or other shallow dish.  Dip the warm bread in the olive oil to accompany your salad.  Mangifico!
  • While the bread heats, toss the spinach with the Makoto Ginger Dressing.  Put a mound of dressed spinach in the center each plate, slice the steak into thin slices (across the grain), and arrange on top of the spinach.  Arrange tomato wedges around the outside of the spinach, drizzle with the Ginger Dressing, and serve.
CHEF’S NOTE: TOMATOES (Tips are from the growers of NatureSweet Tomatoes).
  • Don’t refrigerate tomatoes.  Store at room temperature for best freshness and flavor. Temperatures below 50° will destroy the fruit’s natural sugars and they won’t be as sweet.
  • Don’t store in or near a sunny window.  Keep tomatoes in a shaded location.
  • Shelf life of an average tomato is 7 days. NatureSweet tomatoes have a shelf life of 21 days.
  • Don't store vine-ripened tomatoes (like NatureSweet) with other fruits and vegetables. Much produce is picked green and treated with ethylene gas to encourage ripening, bypassing the natural ripening process.  Because "gassed" produce continues to release ethylene, close proximity to it will shorten the shelf life of vine-ripened tomatoes.

Enjoy!
